GENEVA CAMERA CLUB One Tank Trips March 2005 Hi everybody, hope you had a chance to burn some film or record some images on your media card this weekend. Getting a Jump on Spring Flowers: Flowers at the greenhouse and gardens offer a nice opportunity to work on your macro techniques, learn more about that new Christmas camera, or just to enjoy natures’ beauty. I like the Rockefeller greenhouse on East Blvd. Tripods are welcome and the pedestrian traffic is minimal. Orchids in every color, shape and presentation, cactus in the Succulent Section provide interesting geometric captures, and lots of varieties in color and texture are waiting for you. Columbus, Ohio: The Franklin Park Conservatory in Columbus Ohio is presenting a Free Flight Butterfly exhibit starting March 5, 2005. I have never been to this place but the website sounds great. You can feed Lorikeets in the Pacific Island exhibit and capture great images of Butterflies when they land on succulent plants to feed. Go to their website for more information. If you are planning a trip to Columbus, make sure to stop in at the Zoo. Their Zoo is a terrific place to shoot. Deer Creek and Ceasar’s Creek State Parks are just south of the city. Elk Watching in Pennsylvania: The little town of Benezette, Pennsylvania is home to the largest herd of Elk east of the Mississippi river) walking down the streets of Benezette. There are some Elk watching areas like Winslow Hill Road and some of the campgrounds along the road. . It is not uncommon to see 6-point royals (that is a 12 pointer for us Buckeyes). Benezette is approx. 3 hours from Mentor off of I80 east by the Dubois exit. There is more information at the Pennsylvania parks website. There are many state parks along the way. Have a Great Spring. Hope to see you in April at Kingwood. There is a much to do and see in the Mansfield area. You should check out their city website for more information, www.ci.mansfield.oh.us.
